Overview
Thousands of years ago during China’s Three Kingdoms Period, a family-bound witch was wrongfully blamed and persecuted for the death of a local warlord’s son. Before she was burned to ashes, she swore to exact revenge on the descendants of all those involved. Yet, to prevent the powerful witch from reconstitution, the Dao monk that captured the witch separated her ashes into six spell-bound boxes and then hidden away into the edges of the warring kingdoms. Eons passed. The witch had tracked down all but two boxes, but she had paid a steep price surviving through the ordeal. The emergence of two Blood Children (sisters of one another) in witch’s remaining family bloodline could help her regain most of her human form, but her enemies’ descendants still stood in her way of reconstitution. Will she be able to overcome the obstacles to get closer to her rebirth, or will she run out of time? Author's Note to Readers: For fantasy lovers, this is a hybrid, dark fantasy novel that includes both low fantasy and high fantasy elements. The main storyline is driven by Queen and her infected proxies in an urban setting, but a subplot involving her servant, a subterranean worm, is developed with high fantasy elements. You will find the high/low fantasy narratives intertwine and drive the plot forward. I tried to pace the story such that it never stagnates and there are surprises along the way. Inside the high fantasy world--the worm--you will meet unusual characters that are different from the traditional fantasy cast, but just like their human counterparts, they have their own struggles for survival and power. The ensemble of main and supporting characters carries several parallel plots forward that ends with a dramatic climax and a satisfying ending. As a first-time novelist, I love to hear your feedback and suggestions. Hope you enjoy the story.
