Overview

A gutless, closefisted elderly person named Ebenezer Scrooge sits in his tallying house on a freezing Christmas Eve. His representative, Bob Crotchets, shudders in the waiting room since Scrooge won't burn through cash on warming coals for a fire. Miser's nephew, Fred, visits his uncle and welcomes him to his yearly Christmas celebration. Two heavy men likewise drop by and approach Scrooge for a commitment to their foundation. Tightwad responds to the occasion guests with sharpness and toxin, letting out an irate "Bah! Sham!" in light of his nephew's "Cheerful Christmas!" • Later that night, in the wake of getting back to his dim, cold condo, Scrooge gets a chilling appearance from the apparition of his dead accomplice, Jacob Marley. Marley, looking run down and colorless, relates his tragic story. As discipline for his insatiable and self-serving life his soul has been sentenced to meander the Earth weighted down with weighty chains. Marley wants to spare Scrooge from having a similar destiny. Marley illuminates Scrooge that three spirits will visit him during every one of the following three evenings. After the apparition vanishes, Scrooge falls into a profound rest. • He wakes minutes before the appearance of the Ghost of Christmas Past, an unusual honest apparition with a splendidly shining head. The soul accompanies Scrooge on an excursion into the past to past Christmases from the curmudgeon's prior years. Imperceptible to those he watches, Scrooge returns to his youth school days, his apprenticeship with a carefree dealer named Fezziwig, and his commitment to Belle, a lady who leaves Scrooge since his desire for cash obscures his capacity to adore another. Tightwad, profoundly moved, cries tears of disappointment before the ghost returns him to his bed. • The Ghost of Christmas Present, a superb goliath clad in a green hide robe, takes Scrooge through London to uncover Christmas, as it will happen that year. Tightwad watches the enormous, clamoring Crotchets family set up a small blowout in its pitiful home. He finds Bob Crotchets' disabled child, Tiny Tim, a gallant kid whose thoughtfulness and lowliness makes Scrooge feel great inside. The apparition at that point zips Scrooge to his nephew hosts to observe the Christmas get-together. Tightwad finds the joyful social affair brilliant and begs the soul to remain until the finish of the merriments. As the day passes, the soul ages, getting observably more seasoned. Tightwad, on edge to become familiar with the exercise of his most recent guest, asks to know the name of the dead man. In the wake of begging the apparition, Scrooge winds up in a churchyard, the soul highlighting a grave. Tightwad takes a gander at the gravestone and is stunned to peruse his own name. He urgently begs the soul to modify his destiny, promising to deny his harsh, voracious ways and to respect Christmas with everything that is in him. Whoosh! He out of nowhere winds up securely wrapped up his bed.
