Overview
When you see the title of this book, “Terrifyingly Gruesome Tales of Horror”, you might think, “What an odd title.” You see, in the early 1950's, when horror comics were at their peek, comics came under attack. A psychiatrist named Fredric Wortham claimed that comic books were the cause of juvenile delinquency. We can laugh at his claims now, but in that moment comics were being burned in the street, and a lot of good artists were put out of work. The Comics Code Authority was created out of this madness. The Comics Code Authority was not there to fight Wortham, but to clean up comics. The Code created three pages of rules that all comics must abide by. The words Terrify, Gruesome, and Horror were not allowed to appear on any cover. I have done my very best to create a comic that would make Mr. Wortham think I am a vile despot. This book contains four short stories, all hosted by our very own horror host. The book is in what I would consider to be in good taste, and suitable for children to read - with the lights on, of course.
