Overview
"The ax, hand me the ax, now! Both of them must be presented to the divine master." Those words echoed throughout the area as a fiery bonfire cast shadows around the sweltering blaze. The quaint, friendly town of flores, New York, lies only a few miles from the Canadian border and historically dates back before the era of the Underground Railroad. In fact, many of the families that reside there are descendents of abolitionists. A mysterious stranger, Lionel Trefah, arrives in the town and is instantly attracted to one of the locals, Betty Lahti. The townspeople are unaware that there is an old, secretive, medieval, fraternal ritual that has convened for more than three hundred years and one that is inconveivable
