The quaint, friendly town of flores, New York, lies only a few miles from the Canadian border and historically dates back before the era of the Underground Railroad. In fact, many of the families that reside there are descendents of abolitionists. A mysterious stranger, Lionel Trefah, arrives in the town and is instantly attracted to one of the locals, Betty Lahti.
