For centuries, members of the Spirian Order have trained their mind's eye to gain access to the incorporeal plane of existence. This boundless vista of energy enfolds visible reality and generates what is known as kann, the ethereal fuel used to craft spells of earth, fire, water and wind. The sphere of influence propagated by these willful individuals has been driven by the pursuit of knowledge, a motivation that entices these practitioners from the borders of their homeland province, Charlen, and into the lands beyond. Zollan Zomb has gathered together dozens of Spirians from across the continent to recreate an ancient relic called the nexus orb. This priceless treasure contains and produces a perpetual source of ethereal power. In their effort to reproduce this artifact, the assembled practitioners must wield lethal levels of energy despite the fact that the orb's true function and origin remains a mystery.
