Told from the perspective of its residents, NEW DEADFORD becomes the “Pearl of the World,” not without its own inner struggles. The city moves from those who not only survive the viral outbreak, but thrive in the wake of the Dead.NEW DEADFORD will present the City’s rich history, people and geography in an innovative contemporary format. The current trend of the “zombie apocalypse” genre in literature, the big and small screens and the looming COVID-19 pandemic makes the release of this graphic novel all the more relevant. The project will showcase the City’s rich resource of talented artists developing a body of work that displays the wit and ingenuity of actual residents, who like many of New Bedford's historical figures, made the City a unique and thriving community.
