Overview

Darcy Davenport is a rookie cop with a lot on her plate. She is working undercover with the Denver District Attorney’s Office to catch a ring of bad cops ripping off prostitutes and bookies. She has an almost ex-husband with a gambling problem who is trying to stick her with half his gambling debt in the divorce. She has a lazy ski bum twin brother and her parents were recently killed in a car accident. But Darcy’s biggest problem is about to make his appearance. He will be her new partner, whether she wants one or not. He doesn’t carry a gun. He didn’t graduate from the police academy. He knows absolutely nothing about law enforcement or the legal system and couldn’t care less. He does know quite a bit about life, death, and the bad side of reality. He has been observing them for centuries as a demon in Hell. Down in the hot spot, watching television and placing some friendly wagers with angels helps demons pass the time between shifts of torturing condemned souls. Having lost a bet on an NFL football game to a cheating archangel, the demon is tasked with helping Darcy through this trying period of her life. Since demons, in their natural appearance, tend to attract attention while moving about Earth, this particular one is disguised as a cat, a cat who loves tuna and television. Now Darcy will get help, whether she wants it or not. Just what Darcy needs: a live-in, smartass cat with bad breath and a predilection for tuna in oil and The Young and the Restless. What could possibly go wrong?
