Overview

This stirring and gripping story is only part one of a continuing series. When I was ten, I left New York with my mom on a trip to visit relatives in Egypt. There was a good friend of the family in Cairo who took me on an adventure to an interesting part of the city. I entered an apartment building and met a Muslim shaman who knew powerful magic. His stories amazed me and made me curious, as I sat comfortably on a chair in disbelief, guzzling down a cold glass bottle of Coca-Cola that was served to me. The magician explained how he cured a young boy who was very sick with a horrible fever. Physicians and medicines weren’t helping the poor child. The boy’s parents went to the healer and paid him to help their sick son. Quickly, the lucky boy recovered and was healed; after the witchdoctor bathed him in warm water with a white piece of paper. On the paper, there were selected verses of the Holy Quran written in black ink with a fountain pen, dissolving in the bathwater. Eager to discover more, the sorcerer convinced me to go under his spelling trance and attempt astral travel. I sat back in my chair and relaxed as he instructed, closing my eyes and listening to him rhythmically recite verses of the Holy Quran. The hypnotist told me to look into the darkness of my mind and search for a speck of light, as he dabbed a fragrant sandalwood ointment on my face. After searching for a few moments, I claimed I saw a light I just imagined, since I didn’t want to disappoint anyone. Pleased, he directed me to move towards the light and let it grow larger until it surrounded me. Thinking that I’m just imagining all this, I passed through the bright light out into the other side. Informing him, the conjuror asked me to go back home to America and look for my father who was busy working and hadn’t accompanied us to Egypt. Thus, I envisioned myself going to our high-rise apartment back home in the United States. Entering the apartment, I reported that my father was absent and probably at work. Inside the living room, I spotted the clock on the wall, showing the time was three o’clock in the afternoon. The amused warlock was satisfied, since the time was ten o’clock at night in Egypt, which was precisely right given the seven hour time difference with New York. Next, I was told to visit other people they knew in the same vicinity. I described crossing old cobblestoned streets and seeing a large house with two big German Shepherds chained in the backyard that barked at me. This didn’t make sense at the time and was unfamiliar, but a few years later I visited that very same good friend of the family in NYC with his relatives in the exact house I saw with the dogs barking and the cobblestone streets. Later on as an older teen, I meditated and learned self hypnosis, experimenting with outer body experiences. Perhaps, I opened myself up for malevolent spirits, since many of my visions are very disturbing.
