Icelandic native daughter Dagmar Biebelheimer is a brilliant psychologist who also happens to be an expert shapeshifter. After receiving training not only in psychology but criminal behavior and folklore, she opens a retreat in the misty woods of northern California, where she treats patients who have exhausted all other avenues to escape torment from external and internal demons. Dagmar's long record of excellent outcomes at "Saint Jude's Sanctuary" is challenged by her newest "guests," who bring their unpredictable behavior along with their evil entities to the retreat. At the same time, Dagmar continues to be torn by her desire for her first love and an even more powerful desire to push her shapeshifting abilities to their limits.
