A zombie story......with a heart! Deep underground, under a cemetery, lies a massive operation where experiments in reanimation are taking place. Vector Systems, a shady company, is opening caskets, removing decades-old corpsesdead and reawakening their rotting bodies. One such “resusitant”, Phoebe Brown, was murdered in 1978. Reanimated, she lives a horrific existence of agonizing pain in a suit of pruned and purple skin. But just before an order is given to re-euthanize her and all the other miserable corpses, she escapes to the woods where she hides. And then she meets Darla. Darla Graves is the highly-eccentric teenaged daughter of a mortician's assistant. In her black clothes, the goth girl devours horror novels and enjoys walks in the woods behind the funeral home, And there, in the ruins of an abandoned cemetery, she meets the corpse-like Phoebe. After some trepidation over Phoebe's grotesque appearance, she befriends the troubled girl and tries to help her. But Phoebe is also pursued by a violent company agent, determined to send Phoebe back to her casket. He'll gladly kill anyone who gets in his way. Can Darla protect her new friend and convince others to put aside their fears to help save a lost soul in desperate need? Phoebe is a different kind of zombie story. It's a tale of compassion rising above cruelty; of love conquering fear. It's a story that looks at what else happens to us after we die.
