It's a summer evening and you are in a city. Not a huge city. It's one of those cities with a university and everyone is younger than you (except the professors) and everyone is sporting an edgy haircut (even the professors). You're sitting alone outside an old pub on a quiet road. There is a red brick wall beside your table across which the last of the day's sun is tracking. You are smoking a cigarette. You smoke now. It's not edgy. Inside the pub it's open mic night. The students are sharing their efforts to various degrees of appreciation. You could walk home but it's lonely there so you're going to sit in the last of the day's sun, drinking warm beer, and absorbing some words. Your tinnitus is playing up.
