1935: In the vast, isolated woods of Northern New York, a young girl named Pauline lives in terror, a prisoner in her own home. In the past few months, she has lost both her mother and younger brother to unnatural causes. Confined to a gloomy attic bedroom, Pauline is at the mercy of her alcoholic Poppa, whose behavior grows more erratic every day. As the days drag on, Pauline’s hopes for rescue or escape grow dimmer. Her waking hours are filled with fear, and her sleep fraught with nightmares... terrifying dreams that Pauline realizes are actually suppressed memories. Slowly, she comes to accept that the painful events she’s tried so hard to forget may be her key to freedom. Against her will, she starts to remember…
