‘Beneath the Poisoned Roots’ is a collection of short stories written by Bangor University Creative Writing students.Ceridwen – a young witch is preparing for winter when tragedy strikes; will she be able to protect her friends and her legacy?The Mirror of Darkness – as her birthday draws near, Bianca finds a strange mirror in her bedroom and some unusual conversation topics from her brother; can she face what she sees in the mirror?Whispers on the Wind – Captain Tola Sevan is the fearless and dutiful leader of the Dukes Guard. But, in his world of quiet terror and despair, something new is stirring deep below the ground. Will he be able to prevent this fresh hell from gaining a foothold in this world? Or will the monsters fouls whispers be enough to dissuade our hero and doom the land to rot forever?Child of the Trees – Penelope loved the woods near her house, always feeling at home exploring the untamed wilderness. That was until she saw the monster who lived amongst the trees. But when her mother falls grievously sick, she discovers the existence of a strange medicinal plant at the heart of the forest.
