A sorcerer’s apprentice took his own life in the small town of Recillio. No one could ever figure out why. A few years later, he is walking among its people once again, disguised as a friendly count, and has become the Lich— a being of inexplicable origin consumed by his vision to overthrow reality. Other strange things also begin appearing that befuddle even local magicians: a spirit who mistook an ordinary night for the apocalypse, a knight with no dragons to slay, a city sprouting up in streets and alleyways, and a demon prince who only wants to fit in. Caught in a tempest of myths and legends, prophetic visions, and dark memories hurled into reality, how can ordinary life endure? The world is changing, no matter who tries to fight it. Recillio is not as safe and secluded as it once was, and there’s no turning back for anyone, even the undead.
