Overview

This is "somewhat" of a sequel to Lord Shaffer's previous past-life memory novel "Beloved Brother" in that it is the next time these two Spiritual Beings cross paths after their incarnation together in seventh-century Scotland as a monk and a travelling knight from Venice who rescues the monk in his greatest hour of need, but the knight is nearly killed in battle. The monk was assigned to take care of the knight through his lengthy recovery, and "Beloved Brother" detailed the deep emotional, spiritual and physical relationship the two men acted out and mirrored to one another as they worked through their unresolved emotional and karmic issues. In "Ben Kimsem," they meet again, one thousand years later in Venice, and the book details their ongoing karmic relationship as they continue to work through their still unresolved karmic issues. Is their relationship to be the same as it was one thousand years ago, or are they acting out something different? Will their issues come to light and be worked t hrugh, or will they continue with their avoidances, denials and escape behaviours? The two ravens from "Beloved Brother" who acted as a kind of "Scottish Greek Chorus," offering deep insights and clarity on the relationship between these two men are also back, but this time as seagulls, and one of them is not too pleased about that atall. They continue to act out their role as before, this time as a "Venetian/Ottoman Empire Greek chorus," again offering their deep insights and reactions as they continue to observe the two men's progress.
