The country of Ambit was created by the four goddesses. Aro created the south, Wharhiel, where the land was cursed by dragons to be a desert for all of time. Val created the East, Estruysia, where the unicorns blessed the land to be eternally prosperous. Tara created the north, Eflorhiel, that was cursed to be eternally frozen. The last goddess created Oswea in the west and everything was as it should be.To ensure the balance in Ambit, Aro, Val, and Tara all created chosen ones to be reincarnated throughout the years together, three to keep the balance of power in order.Cro kept her hands out of her people's problems and soon they resorted to war. Those in Oswea were tired of being mistreated so they fought the other three regions until they were nearly wiped out. As this came to a head, Cro finally stepped in and created her own chosen one, The Shadow. The Shadow was named Jadrien and was all the dark qualities of the good prince Gavin in the east. They were so evenly matched that they had to call a truce. In this truce Jadrien traded himself to the south, Wharhiel, in turn for every other region to leave Oswea to live in peace.The story picks up four years later. The king in the east realized he couldn't keep up with every region and was not a good ruler and gave power to the barons to rule their own regions. With the power of The Shadow, the Baron Sigr in the south decided to start a war for the throne that was given up in the east.
