Overview
On a cold mid-October evening in Glasgow, Scotland. Ross Mcloud and his family were packing their suitcases for an early morning flight to Tenerife for a friend's wedding. However, due to work commitments Ross couldn't go with them. It was only his wife and twin daughters who would be catching the flight. Ross had the chance to go but couldn't get the time off work. Little did he know, it would be the biggest regret of his life.Meanwhile, as the Mclouds packed and most of Scotland slept. Underneath Faslane Nuclear Weapons Facility, members of the hippy group - CND - were nearing the end of a two year dig. They had been digging a tunnel deep underground and into the base so that they could spray paint slogans and possibly do a 'little' damage to the base in order to gain notoriety for their group and also to muster some much needed publicity to coincide with their nationwide campaign meetings that they had arranged. However, little did the group know, that the mastermind of this plot -Mohamed Sarwar- who they had been infiltrated/befriended by over three years ago, was a member of a new and upcoming terrorist organisation based in Syria whose sole purpose was to do as much damage as possible while inside the base. While the Hippies went about their business with spray paint cans, Sarwar's intent was to plant and detonate devices which would hopefully cause a widespread nuclear disaster, killing hundreds of thousands of people, possibly millions, in the process, but what actually happened was much much worse. Yes, many people died, but not in the explosion or as a result of a nuclear disaster.A newly developed strain of virus which was to be used in the so called ''war on terror" was being developed in the base at the time and the members of the group who escaped the Facility by evading capture by MOD Police were contaminated with the strain while the mayhem ensued within the base. The Authorities never knew exactly who 'patient zero' was or how long the virus took to ravage his body or when it finally took hold but when it did, he became a bloodthirsty, rage filled killing machine. All it took was one bite or an exchange of body fluids and the next person would die and reanimate in a matter of minutes, sometimes seconds and join the ranks of the Infected. The virus spread at a phenomenal rate, taking the Armed Forces, the Police and the Emergency Services down with frightening ease. In a matter of hours the country was decimated. Those who survived the initial first few hours went into hiding, and those who didn't, were the lucky ones. The Infected were soon rampaging all over Britain and there was no way to stop them. Some were feeders who feasted on the flesh of the living but most of them were simply spreaders of the contagion who only ate out of necessity.Central tells the story of Ross McLoud, a normal man from Glasgow, who suddenly found himself in a nightmare; fighting against the Undead, the Infected, with skills he never thought he would put to use, and his fight to be reunited with his family, against all the odds. Will he survive to be reunited with his wife and twin girls as he is pursued relentlessly over what seems to be every inch of his home City or will he too join the Walking dead?
