Overview

The Chosen - the five powerful mages who represent the five faces of God - are led apart, embarking on separate journeys across Raath. The roads become perilous as they learn the dangers of their destinies. The Foreigner: Krothair continues his training in Shailand, away from Ti'shed Hawkethorn's abuses. When an unexpected visitor shows up one night, Krothair must again choose whether to stay or go. The Fool: After the death of his brother, Halimaldie struggles to rebuild his failing empire. But blackmail, betrayal, and love pose problems of their own. The Victim: Wren finds herself working in The Complex, a research facility that harvests magical animals for power. As she struggles between her God-given mission and her morality she must call on her old self in order to survive. The Savior: Otom heads into the frozen north in search of Raven. His rescue is cut short when he is captured by a zealous cult bent on destroying any and all mages, but especially the Chosen. The Faithful: As Allura struggles to bring the word of God to a tribal island nation, she sees first-hand the fearsome war machines of the Trirenese people. If she isn't careful, a war between worlds might be the result of her meddling. If the Chosen can't piece together the mysteries of their quest, time may run out for them. And for all of Raath.
