For ten-year-old Adam McCarthy, life inside the village is all he knows. He knows a little about the famine that spread across the globe, and he knows that he shouldn't let any outsiders into the village, but when a young, starving couple seek refuge in the village, one of the few places where food can still be grown, Adam must try to understand notions of right and wrong in a world where the lines between the two have blurred.Short story, approximately 4500 words.
