He hides in his abbey. Then, he and several other wealthy nobles host a masquerade ball in seven rooms of the abbey. Each room is decorated in a different color. In the middle of the party, a mysterious figure cloaked in a Red Death victim costume sweeps through the rooms. The Prince confronts this stranger and discovers that his costume is nothing more than an apparition. Prospero dies shortly after, with each subsequent guest passing through death in turn. This beautiful reprint of the original book is unabridged and unedited, preserving The Masque of The Red Death for your reading pleasure. Enjoy!Excerpt:"There was no light of any kind emanating from lamp or candle within the suite of chambers. But in the corridors that followed the suite, there stood, opposite to each window, a heavy tripod, bearing a brazier of fire, that projected its rays through the tinted glass and so glaringly illumined the room. And thus were produced a multitude of gaudy and fantastic appearances."Dimensions:Original 1842 TextClassic Gothic FictionDimensions: 6x9 inchesMatte Cover
