Overview
In 1874, Logan Grant was the beloved marshal of River's Bend, a mining town in southern Colorado. But, when he is accused of killing one of the local bar girls, an outspoken element in town demands his arrest and trial. Convicted, Logan hangs for the death of Annie Harper. But Logan is not ready for death, and he refuses to "cross over" until he finds the true identity of the person who killed Annie. Punished for his refusal to complete the final steps of his death, Logan is tied to a coin he gave to Annie and left to wait for another chance finish the journey.In 2016, Mike Fallon is on the run from his past when he takes a job in River's Bend, Colorado, a small dot on a road map. What the citizens of town don't realize is that Mike is accompanies by the ghost of Logan Grant. Four months into his new job, Mike is asked to pick up a routine investigation into the town's only cold case — the 20-year-old disappearance of single father Peter Rand and his 6-year-old daughter Nora.Mike and Logan look into a case they feel will just be shelved for reevaluation in six months. But, as they work with an FBI agent, pieces start falling together and the pair realize that Peter Rand didn't just leave, and a few people in town are not who they seem to be. In an account juxtaposed with Logan's story, Mike Fallon must discover whether Peter and Nora are dead or alive while finding his place in a town that still holds Logan's memory very dear.
