Genepool: An Unlikely Hero 💀 scary.co

An frail infant with special needs is found in a river, seemingly abandoned and left for dead. A kind woman comes to his aid and takes him in as her own, despite her husband's refusal to accept what he sees as a physically abhorrent mistake rather than a child. What looks to be a glimmer of hope in the boy's life soon fades as the reality of Briarsville, Tennessee sets in. The small minded townsfolk brandish him with the nickname "Genepool" due to his physical and cognitive shortcomings. Gene soon finds that the world is full of villains. They come in all different shapes and forms. This is the story of one Gene Mason Jr. who battles his fair share of villains that include his own disabilities, his inner demons and self loathing, his father's contempt and abuse, and rejection from society as a whole. The only solace young Gene finds lie in the tattered pages of his local library's comic books. As if it were ripped from the pages of a epic superhero tale itself, Gene begins to discover his own special abilities. With his newfound powers, Gene's search for retribution leaves a trail of destruction in his path. The smell of blood eventually leads outsiders to his small town. Gene's internal and external struggles culminate in a game of cat and mouse with a secretive government force bent on taking down whatever is disrupting the quiet sanctity of the rural Appalachian countryside. In his quest to become a hero, Gene begins to cross lines he never thought possible. This is the story of Genepool: A hero in his own world, a villain in ours...
