Overview

Elizabeth Heaton is taken out of her body by the spirits of the oak trees and relives a previous life where she was Jane, a 12-year-old orphan. Jane's ability to speak to the oak trees, the wind and a ghost plays a vital role when Master Edward Giles is banished from the city for refusing to marry the wealthy, twenty years older, Emily Flagstaff. A manhunt for the runaway groom takes place for there are many who want the reward on offer. Elizabeth returns to her world and a few hours later, tragedy strikes. She is devastated and she loses her ability to communicate with the oak trees and the wind, but the ability passes on to another member of her family.Elizabeth faces many hardships, but still yearns for her childhood sweetheart and former singing partner who disappeared years ago. Her wealthy father had disowned her when she wouldn't marry the man of his choice and the bank is about to foreclose on her farm. Elizabeth can't see how she can solve the many problems she must face, but the spirits and the ghosts know the secrets and bring many surprises.
