Overview
"The Ghost in Hannah's Parlor" is a novel for children ages 8 through 11. Set on a fictional island off the coast of Maine, the novel tells the story of 9-year-old Hannah's hunt for the ghost of the legendary turn of the last century Star of the Sea opera singer, Hilda De Witt Rose. To catch up with Hilda, Hannah must battle the school bully and rally the forces of her classmates to help her find "evidence" of Hilda's existence.The novel introduces children to Maine history and the traditional lifestyle of the Maine islands through the use of regional legends and stories. The novel also deals with the issue of bullying in the schools. "The Ghost in Hannah's Parlor" was translated into Lithuanian and in 2007 was selected as one of the top five books for children by Lithuanian National Radio and Television. As soon as I hear her get out of the shower and go downstairs, I'm gonna follow her and I'm gonna tell her what I saw. I think it was a ghost.
