Overview

The phone call came at the usual hour, between mid-night and dawn. Once again, Percival Gaspar was calling on his friend for help. Another friend, a Voodoo Queen was dead and according to the police, it was a simple case of homicide. Regretting his decision, Yane kisses his wife, Megan, goodbye and heads for his old stomping grounds, the French Quarter in New Orleans. Despite his initial opposition, it doesn’t take long for the Crescent City to bring him back into folds of her demanding clutches and he returns to the dark streets of the French Quarter in search of three opponents… Who, What and Why. Who was the murder? What did he or she hope to achieve? Why was a homicide manipulated to give the impression it was the murder of another person? The simple suicide he was lured to solve quickly turned into a complicated homicide, muddied by love, lust and the mysteries of Voodoo with side offerings of drug smuggling, voodoo rituals, murder and international intrigue. Every effort he undertakes, is countered by the reactions of an unknown force on the other side. It isn’t long before we see two teams joining together to outfox the dark side. Initially opposed by the police, Yancy’s experience as a cop draws him into a battle between voodoo adherents, members of the underground attempting to expand their operations and a multi-force taskforce seeking to put them out of business. With a few red herrings thrown in for good measure, the story follows a torturous trail between good and evil, the known and unknown complicated by an onslaught of mysterious spirits.
