He believes he caused the death of his partner. He cannot simply walk away however, so he has started his own detective agency. His overbearing father assumes that this is not a permanent career for Blake, but just a stepping stone until he understands what is his true calling. Blake, according to his father, is a police detective. Rockwell’s father suggests that he should use his human interest newspaper staff, which normal people would view as a walking calamity waiting to erupt into chaos and a really nice old lady, to get his temporary agency started. The band of misfits comes together at just the right time to fill in the missing pieces of the case.
