Overview
Life in the early 20th century in England was humming along like most of its allies following the horror of World War I. But when The Great Depression hit in America, it was inevitable that the financial dominos began to fall. England’s version of the collapse was referred to as “The Slump”, but regardless of the semantics, it was just as impactful as in America. Prior to the beginning of the collapse, Alan and Rose Waverly had embarked on an ambitious endeavour by investing all they had, and then some, to revamp and bring The Red Lion Pub, a once vibrant watering hole in St. Austell, Cornwall, back to life. Fortunately, they amassed enough of a nest egg to cushion the initial blow of the downturn, but soon they joined the ranks of the struggling. When things got very bad, Alan turned to alcohol to alleviate his stress, and his constant inebriation forced Rose to take over all the responsibilities for The Red Lion. However, running a business was not Rose’s forte, and each month they were losing more and more money. In a fit of anger, Alan went to strike Rose and fell, hitting his head on the bar, falling dead at her feet. In a panic, not confident that what had happened would be believed, Rose hurriedly went to bury Alan’s body in the cellar. But when she got him in the hole she had dug, she realized he was not quite dead. Not knowing what else to do, she merely buried him alive to try and protect herself from the authorities.Years went by, and the Red Lion remained abandoned and empty. The mystery of Alan and Rose Waverly was never solved, and no one wanted to try another stab at reviving the old pub. However, when local boy Harry Richardson married an old school friend Stephanie Adams, he and his brother, Thomas, decided to renovate the old, abandoned place as a new home for the newly married couple. Initially, it was wonderful, as both Stephanie and all the locals in St. Austell were amazed at how the old pub had been transformed. But soon, odd sounds and sights began to be revealed to Stephanie, and an old legend surrounding the Red Lion seemed attached based on research she had done. She tried to write it all off as nothing at first, but when she felt the tendrils of the old pub’s legend wrapping around her, she could no longer deny what was happening. However, Harry was resistant to believing what she was trying to convince him of. When things got very bad, Stephanie made one last desperate attempt to get through to him. Will she be able to get Harry to buy into all of what she believes is happening, or is it too late as Harry refuses to just agree to walk away from all his hard work?Read “The Haunting of the Red Lion Pub” now to find out more...
