Overview

What if the government didn't create the National Park Service to protect the parks but protect us from what's inside? All Miranda ever wanted was a normal life. What is a normal life, you ask? In Miranda’s opinion, it’s one where you don’t have to travel from school to school, town to town, state to state every few months because of what your parents do for a living. What do they do for a living? Great question. It’s one Miranda can’t answer. At 17, Miranda can’t wait to be an adult. Once her birthday comes around, she’ll be out of here. Here is Littletown, Colorado, by the way. Forgettable people in an even more forgettable setting. It’s been six months since they arrived, which is longer than usual. One day, when Miranda comes home from school, she discovers her house has been robbed, and her parents are missing. While sifting through the debris, Miranda finds a black book hidden in a secret compartment. She finds a name written across a few pages. A name she doesn’t recognize but wonders if the person has information about her parents.Miranda seeks out the person from the little black book. In doing so, Miranda learns of her bloodline. A bloodline spanning centuries with hunters, protecting humanity from what hides deep in the places no one else wants to go. Miranda's lineage forces her into a world she never knew existed. A world full of mythical monsters, urban legends, and supernatural beings, culminating in a vein-like tunnel system reaching all over North America with the entrance right in Littletown. If Miranda ever wants to see her parents again, she’ll have to face her destiny and become a Shikari, leaving any definition of normality behind forever.
