The book starts off with a young man on his way home from school after spending most of his night cleaning the school for punishment. Walking home late at night is dangerous for anyone anywhere anything could happen. In this specific city, human eating monsters attack at night. He gets attacked by one and wakes at home only t find out that his recent attack was just a part of his subconsiousness. He had been in a coma due to an attack that happened two months prior to his current dream.
