When the world is ending, 18 year-old Quinn York's tourist shuttle to Mars unexpectedly crashes back to earth. He wakes up only remembering one name: Celeste. Knowing he has to find her at any cost, he sets off into the dark, only to find the world is a much different place and time than he used to know. Having been in stasis for five years, Quinn discovers the nuclear holocaust that caused the shuttle to crash also set the world in commotion. It becomes a "kill or be killed" life for Quinn as he does anything he can to find Celeste. To do so, he must survive cruel raiders, grotesque animals, and a new breed of mutated human survivors called Skulks. Three main tribes vie for power amidst the chaos: the strong, military tribe known as Sempers, the wealthy Terra tribe, and the ever-intelligent Mechanicus tribe. Quinn's journey takes him smack-dab into the middle of a tribal civil war with the last remaining vestiges of human life. The exuberant and lavish lifestyle he once knew is no more. Survival is the name of the game.
