Events during the course of the voyage to the capital trigger a political crisis which places Saarquon at the centre of suspicion and simultaneously charges him with its resolution.Together with his obstreperous and supernaturally gifted daughter, Zhala, he struggles to fight against the manifold horror and insanity that erupts across the Monarchy.There are no dragons or demons in the Monarchy. Other people are the worst monsters of all.
