The Appalachian mountains had endured for hundreds of millions of years, long before mankind had ever trod its ancient slopes. Despite thousands of people walking the ancient trails every year, there were still secrets hidden within its dark and forbidding terrain. Secrets that, even today, it still holds fast from those who would discover them.They had set out on a three day hike, their first weekend together away from the rigors of graduate school. The mountains had promised beauty and serenity and a chance to get to know each other far better than they ever could just sharing meals in the university dining halls. What had started out as a romantic getaway soon turned into something far more deadly as they accidentally discovered one of the mountain's deadly secrets.
