Overview
It is 1995, and Montreal is tense as citizens await a referendum to secede from Canada. Amidst the tumult, Alexandra Brighton, a woman fleeing a contentious divorce, flees California with her young son, Samuel, to vacation in an elite enclave of vacation homes outside the city on Black Lake. But, little is what it appears in the home of her charming hosts, Ruth and Ramey Sandeley, where modern conveniences meet with ancient rituals. On the night of their arrival, the mother and son are rowed to stay in a mysterious Victorian on an isolated island where she experiences paranormal activity. The terrifying experience sets Alexandra on a mission to learn the secrets of Black Lake. As the Summer Solstice grows near, the island's seductive schemers draw her into a web of sinister intentions. And, Alexandra must face her demons, if she and her child are to survive.NOTE: “The House on Black Lake” is listed by the Edinburgh Literary Press, Gothic Literature, Volume II, 2016, as a prominent example of gothic literature in the early twenty-first century
