Fenmore's grown up under the tight reigns of love and protection of his family. Being the middle male child, his family's protected him his whole life from the legends of his ancestors. The legends state that the middle male child of each tribe shall ascend in Kou, a vampire spirit that takes over the soul of the middle male child on his twenty-first birthday. Days before his twenty-first birthday, Fenmore and his friends travel to New Orleans for some after-college fun.From the first night in New Orleans, Fenmore's been dreaming about the Kou. As days pass he discovers some dark secrets about his family and friends. Hardly anyone is who they appear and they all have secrets.
