Overview
Imagine a world without adults. Entire generations of people wiped over practically overnight. When the world goes dark, humanity stumbles. Jack Leighlin once saw the earth from 40,000 ft at Mach 1.8 in the cockpit of an F/A-18 Super Hornet. Everything changed when he crashed the fighter jet the day the world fell apart. Jack discovers he’s a changed man. A mysterious virus begins killing people, starting with the oldest generations first. Across the planet, people who survived the space debris falling, now face a deadly plague. As the virus consumes each generation, Jack learns at twenty-seven, the only way to survive is to agree to a secret government experiment. It didn’t go exactly as planned. Jack wakes 123 years in the future. A precocious quantum artificial intelligence named Ego needs Jack to seek communication outside the clandestine mountain base. Jack desperately wants freedom. Unfortunately, he’s hardwired to the military computers. Jack’s only option is to agree to help Ego reconnect with the Pentagon mainframe. Once reestablished the link between the base and the Pentagon, Jack can rejoin the world again. It rests in the hands of a young woman who followed a sign and ended up discovering the world of the Old Ones still has a grip in the future. I was born in a world that never knew industry or electric lights. I live by the code and rules of the gamers. I am Amelia Haddon, and I survive in Open-World. I must keep the Top Score to protect my village. The village of RowOak is peaceful and balanced, but others want to take away everything my grandfather created and reboot. Benjamin Haddon was Top Score Leader since before my birth. He tried to keep everyone safe. When he passed into Extra Life, it’s up to me to make sure the rules don’t change. I learned gaming skills from my grandfather. He was unmatched. I know how to gain points in the wilds. I hope I have the strength and power to keep my grandfather’s legacy alive in me. It’s overwhelming, and I don’t know how to keep gaining points without my grandfather’s guidance. I discovered an Easter egg called Camp Nightfall. It has echoes of the Old Ones still alive. One voice is an annoying artificial intelligence named Ego. The other says he is Jack ‘Crunch’ Leighlin. He claims to be a pilot. I don’t know what that is no more than I understand the call sign ‘Crunch.’ That’s when I encounter my first Boss, and everyone believes it claimed my first life. Now bestowed with the title of Respawn, I must rely on others for help. It started as a side mission. I must help Jack and Ego reconnect with the place of the Old Ones. I can go where they can’t, and my new mission means I must take others who don’t have the same experience in Open-World, and we’re going beyond the sandbox. We must find the lost gamers and tasked with helping Jack. This campaign is unlike anything I’ve faced before, and I’m not alone.
