Do vampires exist? If they do, are they monsters? Are they living dead, living humans infected with a little known disease? Could something seemingly unrelated, such as tapping maple trees for s or, perhaps, ap to make maple syrup, cause a dormant vampire to become active? Could a family making maple syrup deal with violent neighbors who blame them because people have lost blood? If the tapping of trees is the cause of a vampire becoming active, why is the sugaring season the time it seems least likely to attack people? Finally, if a vampire does live near the families’ sugar bush, what can they do about it?
