Overview
Carmilla is a gothic novella written by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, first published in 1872. The story is set in Austria and follows the protagonist, Laura, as she recounts her experiences with a mysterious young woman named Carmilla. The two become fast friends, but Laura soon begins to suspect that Carmilla is not what she seems. Strange occurrences and unexplained illnesses plague Laura and those around her, leading her to believe that Carmilla may be a vampire. As Laura delves deeper into the mystery surrounding her new friend, she uncovers a dark and dangerous truth that threatens her very existence. Carmilla is a classic example of gothic literature, filled with suspense, horror, and supernatural elements. It is considered one of the earliest works of vampire fiction and has inspired countless adaptations in film, television, and other media.Nothing remained to assure us that the adventure had not been an illusion of a moment but the young lady, who just at that moment opened her eyes. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
