Overview

Just was out on his own with this one. Flying solo, with minimal contact. Just, the way he liked it. A low priority mission meant that not much would be required in the way of backup. That is, until Sa'Aren showed up telling him that Phersuna sent her to be his wing man. Problem was, he didn't ask for one. Another problem was, Phersuna hadn't asked him if he needed or wanted one. And that became very important when Sa'Aren suddenly become Just's only point of contact with DTA. That disclosed a fourth problem in his DTA-centric problem set – the fact that Sa'Aren knew quite a lot more than she had any right to know. Which meant that Phersuna did as well. He was willing to bet that his beloved sister was the one who had brought Sa'Aren up to speed. All of which made him feel very vulnerable and that made him very uncomfortable. It meant that Phersuna had not been bluffing when she said she expected the complete truth from him from now on. That was Just's role in this little episode. Sa'Aren had her own DTA-centric problem set. She didn't want to be Just's wing man. Not that she didn't like or trust Just, she'd just rather it not be this assignment. It was the fact that she'd be required to do things that she sure's hell would rather not do. That was the first problem. The second was that Just was a needler. She could take it in small doses, but there wasn't really a time limit on this assignment. In fact, there wasn't much of an assignment at all. But like Just, she had a role to play and not a lot of choice in the matter. The last set of DTA-centric problems were enjoyed by Phersuna. She had been trying to rein in her beloved brother's destructive ways ever since he started the therapy. So, love him though she might, she needed to become the older sister and convince him that he needed to communicate more and take direction better. He also needed to come to a true understanding of her capabilities. Since Sa'Aren had been appointed Head of Enforcement, Phersuna had been attempting to get her to broaden the scope of her reporting. Djinns are resistant to change in general and Sa'Aren was greatly so to this change in specific. She'd done her best, but there was a bridge that she just couldn't seem to cross. At three hundred years, Phersuna decided it was time to throw Sa'Aren into the deep end of the pool and make her swim.If that meant tormenting Just for a while, so be it.If that meant that she might get a few laughs out of it at both of their expense, so be it better.
