‘...intriguing and thought-provoking…’ - Ed Peters, The Reviewer★★★★★Leon lies on the floor of a bathroom that he does not recognise. It appears he is paralysed. Out of the meagre scraps of evidence around him, and filtering through ambiguous fragments of memory, he tries to put together what has happened to him.In his memories, he passes a beggar on the seafront, sees a woman in a restaurant in Cape Town (he sees her, but she doesn’t see him) and experiences a turbulent flight in the company of a little boy who shouts that he is the flying man. Time seems to be significant, and Leon begins to sense that there is a meaning and a message in what he experiences. But then, all of a sudden, the beggar from his memories turns up in his bathroom. Not long after that, a woman named Beatrice materialises beside him. She appears to be the one from the restaurant but also reminds him of his wife. Leon becomes even more confused when Beatrice asks him if he thinks he exists.Time is literally standing still. Even though he can see the second hand moving, the time on the clock against the bathroom wall doesn’t change. While Leon slowly adapts to this new reality, he starts to understand the fabric of life and the meaning behind the events he is struggling to recall. ★★★★★★ ‘... this is an intriguing and thought-provoking novel, with different layers of meaning that give the story depth and richness. - Ed Peters, The Reviewer★ ‘… It is a shining example of good craftsmanship...’ - Writer’s Choice★ ‘...The Flying Man is an extraordinary book that cannot fail to leave an impression in the mind of the reader (...) it is in a different league in terms of artistic merit, combining philosophy with an almost Milton-esque sense of falling from grace (...). The Flying Man is perfectly formed...” - Michael Graze, The World Beyond★ '...The Flying Man is a must-read. (…) it touches on the evolution of the soul through the human mind and explores questions around existence, reality and immortality.’ - J.M. Edwards, The Chronicles
