The first Bapton anthology of uncanny tales for the season: George Knight’s ghost stories from The Wreck of the Lodewijk and Other Ghostly Tales; and, from Crafts and Assaults, GMW Wemyss’ tale of a minor but troublesome coven in rural Wilts, firmly dealt with by the duke of Taunton and our old friends from the Village Tales series, and Mr Pyle’s quietly chilling account of a new type of werewolf in West Texas and a question of law; all enhanced by essays from the authors on their craft, and a scholarly examination of unseelie tales from Mr Wemyss and Mr Pyle. Best to read these in daytime, after checking doors and windows….
