And necromancers are an automatic cool factor! But on top of all of this the characters are all well developed and there was enough world building to satiate my Tolkien-esque world building loving self (but don’t worry, it’s not on THAT level, it’s just really tastefully done).So, I really love when authors aren’t afraid to take on more than one type of paranormal being. And while this can easily lead to a murky and underdeveloped world, that wasn’t the case with Necromancer Rising. All of the supernaturals were well developed (and even if we all recognize werewolves and the like, each author always has a personal style) and I think it helped that the author pulled from some traditional lore.
