A frivolous jazz singer pursues a recording contract with a man who believes himself to be the new Messiah. A pair of female explorers take an expedition that may be a "red herring" for something far more sinister. A thirteen-year-old girl is sent under mysterious circumstances to live with her reclusive, exotic Aunt Kira where she begins to suspect that her idol, along with not being a blood relative, may also not be human.
