Overview
Ethylbert spent weeks in the freezer. When he was taken out he started on a journey to find Ned and Debbie, his owners. He wasn’t dead. He wasn’t alive, either. He wasn’t a vampire or a zombie. He was just a small, ugly, not very intelligent, not-dead not-alive sort-of-dog. He was hungry. He was always hungry. It didn't matter what he ate or how much. His hunger never increased or decreased. At the same time, he was never hungry enough to make a serious effort to obtain food, especially not if it interfered with resting. Ideally, resting somewhere with the temperature below freezing. He wasn’t vicious or aggressive. He was capable of defending himself, as those foolish enough to attack him learned. If he had an impact on any others he encountered during his travels, he never noticed. He wouldn’t have cared. Only three things mattered to Ethylbert, in no special order: resting, eating, and finding Ned and Debbie.
