Overview

The world was still recovering from the Covid pandemic of a decade earlier when Ebola-X first emerged in a remote village in Kyrgyzstan. Within weeks the virus had traveled to every corner of the globe. Within months, it had killed more than three-quarters of the world’s population.Including Zilla Harms.Unlike other pandemics though, there was nothing natural about Ebola-X. The contagion seemed to be a chimera; the X components of its viral DNA unknown. It bore only a superficial resemblance to the lethal viruses created in secret underground labs and classified government facilities and the scientists trying to decode its secrets were baffled. In the absence of facts—or maybe in spite of them—speculation ruled. Environmentalists blamed global warming for unleashing the retro virus. Doomsday cults pointed to apocalyptic scripture. The truth turned out to be stranger than any paranoid conspiracy theory when the man responsible for the worldwide genocide unleashed by Ebola-X came forward to claim credit for his work. He called himself “the Reaper.”The Reaper was a self-taught mage of immense power and even larger ambition, a soulless, pitiless being whose master plan was to eliminate all he labeled “the Unworthy” and to kickstart the evolution of a superior, magic-augmented master race—the Afterwitches. Zilla Harms was reborn as an afterwitch, but she’s not onboard with her creator’s destructive agenda. Feared by survivors, and scorned by her own kind, Zilla is now on a mission to find and kill the Reaper before he can embark on the final phase of his demented plan.If Zilla can’t stop the Reaper, then the rest of humanity is doomed. This is a short read.
