Born and raised on a reservation, a young Native American boy learns the ways of his grandfather – a Shaman who could connect with unseen forces. But his happy childhood is soon interrupted by the news that his people will be relocated, forced off the land that sustained them and that held the remains of his great-grandfather. As the boy grows into manhood, new challenges present themselves in the form of enemies to his people and their way of life. As he battles to defend what he loves, he comes to understand the true meaning of life and family.“The story follows a young man in a tumultuous time,” Hurtubise says. “His family is faced with dislocation and must start a new life in a strange land. It is the remembrance and use of traditional values and methods that help him and his non-traditional family survive.”The book is intended to offer a fresh perspective on the lives and families of Native Americans and the challenges faced by many tribes. The book also features detailed descriptions of religious ceremonies, spiritual communication and powerful supernatural forces. The idea for the story came to Hurtubise in a vivid dream that revealed the plot and characters in detail. “Shaman: Devil's Deal” is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels.About the AuthorClay Hurtubise grew up in Maine, went to college in Wyoming, lived in New Hampshire and then returned to Maine where he is currently a pharmacist.
