.Little Johnny Landers looked at ugly trees in the front yard of the house in the woods his father had just purchased, and thought they had eyes. His sister, Lola, thought maybe the trees could hear. Their mother thought bushes were walking in from the woods while they slept to plant themselves in the front yard. Herbert Landers, head of the house, thought they were all imagining things until he walked outside in the dark and found the trees watching him with big red eyes.
