Overview

From URNS: The urns. The urns, covered with their air tight plug-like tops. The urns which he just emptied, offering their contents to the sea, to the beach, the beach which held such fond memories. Yet remains, like memories, have a tendency to cling to (in a word) remain, and so inside each of those urns, clinging to their individual ceramic ides, there remained something of each...his sister in pink, green and white...his mother in blue and silver...his father in black and gold; nevertheless, Simeon peacefully slept. From TRIAD: Confusion reigned supreme, a fire fueled by that Triad which has confused man ad infinitum. The truth be known, I really had no choice in the matter. Reason, there was none. Emotion, there was none. Resolve, there was none. I was doomed for being unable to sort out this Triad which, when approached as a confederacy and each of the triumvir kept within its proper realm, presents mere annoyance, but when attempted as a whole, together, is more awesome and insurmountable than death itself, for beyond death lies no answers, only confusion supernatural. Viewed from this perspective, for being unable to cope with this bane of man, I was doomed, sentenced to death before even executing the deed; something I never truly realized until after my trial. From THE REVISITING: Ogunquit. Beautiful Place by the Sea. Martin Rea had been here before. With his children. With his wife. Ex-wife. Then is was a Beautiful Place by the Sea. Now he was there by himself. Alone. Facing his demons. Now it was more baleful than beautiful. From THE PIGEONS: The roof, cluttered with abandoned construction materials, was lorded over by the building's huge air conditioning unit. As she made her petulant way about, she heard what sounded like something metal being shaken. She moved toward it. CeeCee craned her neck around the air conditioner and her petulance devolved into deflation. It was a huge pigeon coop, part metal and part wooden, but in it were only somewhere around twenty or so of the disgusting creatures cooing and flapping to their hearts' content. Albion Cree kept pigeons as pets? From THE ARRANGEMENT: Randy backed off Sol and swiveled his head in Solanza's direction. He could have sworn he half heard Sol snort as he turned away, but when he looked back at him only the perpetual grimace, perhaps a bit grimmer than usual, was there. Randy looked down at his right hand and jerked it out from under Solanza's paternal grasp. Solanza simply raised both his hands, palms outward. "Such anger. It's a good thing your father has a calmer head. It enabled him to see the merits of the new arrangement he was offered."From THE MINIONS OF TIME: As the worms flew toward Pricillium the people below watched in wonder. They swooped low over the castle and perched, each one individually, upon the four walls of the great city. To the north was Drklyw, whose crest was of sapphires and diamonds. To the east was Syrr, with her crest of of onyx inlaid with opals. To the south perched Fyrdryk the Golden whose under-crest was pure shining gold with an emerald twice the size of man in the center. And to the west was Aerlywn, her crest of pear and red gold. From THOSE LEFT BEHIND: For almost a year nightfall brought with it unspeakable terror. Villagers who ventured into the dark beyond the light of the town were not seen again. Occasionally the wind would carry their unearthly screams back to the village, sometimes accompanied by the maddening beat of hellish wings. So the elders forbade forays beyond the lights of the village at night. Soon after, huts on the outskirts fell prey, shattered wood and splashes of blood all that remained in the morning. Panic spread. Fear swelled like an infested wound. Those left behind turned again to the two elders.
