Overview

"The clouds, they hide spaceships." The nun said again. I looked at her and blinked my eyes. She was definitely a nun. She was old. Hunched over, as old people often are. She wore the typical black and white penguin outfit, the nun's habit. She reached into her over-sized handbag. The enormous bag made her look even smaller. It was crafted from some coarse material, burlap or rawhide, I couldn't tell which. She reached her small, old hand into the oversized bag and pulled out an oversized can of Sapporo, Japanese beer. She casually tore the lid off and took a big gulp." - SpacewhalesFrom high-orbit above a burning world, to the cool depths of a serpent filled ocean, Airlocks and the Apocalypse takes readers on a wild ride. Stand guard with heroes of a dying kingdom, hunt treasure laden ships with the Serpent Riders of Atlantis, and tear across the the scorched wasteland in a mythological car. This collection includes the Aviator Fiction editor's choice story "The Census Bureau," the surreal "Calcutta," and the long awaited sequel, "Spacewhales II: The Nun-Remains The Same."Each unique story is a step deeper into the author's imagination. Sometimes witty, sometimes disturbing, these tales are all expertly told. Beginning to end, the author's prose is terse, vivid and entertaining. This is the third short collection from by Eric Staggs, a Madison Wisconsin based writer. His hobbies include philosophy, anthropology, archaeology, astronomy, classical history, gaming, strategy, science-fiction, literature, cinema, cultural trends, technology, Buddhism and of course, zombies.
